Maha Kumbh 2025, Preparations on in full swing in Prayagraj, special attention on crowd management

Preparations underway for Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj with special crowd management and mobility plans, including Shivalaya Park featuring replicas of ancient Shiva temples to enhance the pilgrim experience.

Maha Kumbh

Preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj are in full swing. This year, pilgrims and tourists attending the Kumbh will have the unique opportunity to witness replicas of all ancient Shiva temples from across India in one place. For this purpose, an innovative park named "Shivalaya Park" is being constructed at Arail in Naini, near the Sangam. The park is scheduled to be completed before the Maha Kumbh.

Focus on Crowd Management by Yogi Adityanath Government

The Yogi Adityanath government is placing special emphasis on crowd management during the Maha Kumbh. Efforts are being made to ensure smooth mobility for pilgrims without causing traffic jams on roads. Separate entry and exit routes have been designated to maintain the flow of people. On peak days, pilgrims will only need to walk between 1 to 5 kilometers, while on normal days, the walking distance will be less than 1 kilometer.

Parking and Mobility Arrangements

Multiple parking lots have been established in every direction of the city, allowing pilgrims to easily access the Sangam. Commissioner of Prayagraj Division, Vijay Vishwas Pant, stated that this grand religious event will attract not just pilgrims from India but from all over the world. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that no devotee should face any inconvenience, and a crowd management plan has been put in place accordingly.

Special Measures to Avoid Congestion

Special arrangements have been made to ensure continuous movement of pilgrims and avoid congestion. Separate routes for arrival and departure have been designated to ensure that pilgrims don't cross paths, and measures are in place to prevent crowds from gathering in one spot. Pilgrims will be guided towards their destinations after bathing and darshan to maintain mobility in both the mela area and the city.

Railway Coordination and Special Trains

The administration has requested the railway authorities to run more special trains on time, allowing pilgrims to travel efficiently. The railways have responded positively and announced several additional special trains. Rest areas have also been identified for pilgrims who wish to take a break during their journey.

Preparing for Peak Days

The arrival of pilgrims is expected to start with the beginning of the Maha Kumbh. On key bathing days, the number of pilgrims is estimated to reach several crores. For the Mouni Amavasya, it is anticipated that around 4 to 5 crore pilgrims will take the holy dip at the Sangam. Plans have been made to manage this high volume of devotees.

Ensuring a Smooth Experience for Pilgrims

On peak days, pilgrims will only need to walk 1 to 5 kilometers to reach the Sangam, and efforts are being made to facilitate their journey. Mouni Amavasya, expected to be the busiest day, will see heavy traffic between 3 AM and 12 PM. After noon, the return flow of pilgrims will begin, and the administration is focused on ensuring they reach their parking spots smoothly.

Clean and Plastic-Free Kumbh

In line with the Chief Minister's vision of a "Swachh Kumbh," efforts are being made to avoid the use of plastic throughout the mela area. Alternatives, such as bio-friendly bags from Indore, are being considered. The administration plans to engage traders and encourage the use of eco-friendly bags instead of plastic.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 promises to be a grand event with extensive planning and efforts to ensure the safety, convenience, and mobility of millions of pilgrims attending from around the world.
