Madhya Pradesh Woman Undergoes Surgery to Remove 1,235 Gallbladder Stones, Shocking Doctors

Woman

Rewa, Madhya Pradesh: In an extraordinary medical case, doctors at a private hospital in Rewa successfully removed 1,235 stones from the gallbladder of a woman during a surgical procedure. The patient, Pratima Gautam, hailing from Amarpatan town in Maihar district, had been suffering from severe abdominal pain for an extended period before being admitted to Life Care Hospital in critical condition.

A Rare and Shocking Discovery

Upon conducting diagnostic tests, doctors confirmed the presence of multiple stones in Pratima’s gallbladder. The surgical team, led by Dr. Brijesh Singh, was astonished during the operation as they removed 1,235 stones, each roughly the size of a lentil. “This is the first time we’ve encountered such a large number of stones in a single patient’s gallbladder,” said Dr. Singh.

The Operation and Recovery

During the procedure, doctors opted to remove the gallbladder entirely to prevent future complications. Pratima’s surgery was successful, and she is now fully recovered and free from the excruciating pain that had plagued her. “The operation was a success, and Pratima is now pain-free. She is stable and recovering well,” added Dr. Singh.

Free Treatment Under Ayushman Bharat

The entire treatment was conducted free of charge under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring the patient and her family did not face financial burdens. “The Ayushman card covered all expenses, allowing us to provide the necessary care without any cost to the family,” hospital officials stated.

Unraveling the Cause

Doctors are conducting further tests to determine the underlying causes of such an unusual case. Gallstones often result from dietary habits, genetics, or other health conditions, but the sheer number in this case is rare.

A Medical Milestone

The case has left the medical team and the patient’s family relieved yet amazed. Instances of gallbladder stones are common, but encountering over a thousand stones during surgery is unprecedented.

This successful operation not only highlights advancements in healthcare accessibility under government schemes but also underscores the importance of timely medical intervention. Pratima and her family, now relieved and grateful, are celebrating her recovery after what could have been a life-threatening condition.
