Liquor ban to end within an hour of Jan Suraaj coming to power, reiterates Prashant Kishor

Prashant Kishor, leader of Jan Suraj, has vowed to lift Bihar's liquor ban within an hour if elected, criticizing the current prohibition as ineffective and costly. He also addressed political rivalries and his party’s upcoming foundation day.

Poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor has pledged to lift the liquor ban in Bihar within one hour if his party, Jan Suraj, forms the next government. Kishor, who leads Jan Suraj, criticized the current prohibition as "the most fake one," asserting that Bihar loses nearly ₹20,000 crore annually due to the ban, while officials and the liquor mafia profit from illegal trade.

Addressing reporters, Kishor stated, "There is no need for special preparation for October 2. We’ve been preparing for the past two years. If the Jan Suraj government is formed, we will end the liquor ban within one hour." He emphasized that the groundwork has already been laid for this promise.

Kishor also commented on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav’s public yatra, offering his best wishes but noting that it is a step towards engaging with the public. Regarding the ongoing tensions between RJD and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, following Yadav's claim that Kumar apologized for joining the BJP-led NDA, Kishor stated that both leaders have damaged Bihar. He criticized their long tenure, saying, "The people of Bihar have seen both leaders for 30 years. We urge them to leave Bihar."

Earlier, Kishor had harshly criticized Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership capabilities during an event in Bhojpur, Bihar. He questioned Yadav's educational background, stating, "If someone couldn't be educated due to a lack of resources, that’s understandable. But if someone’s parents were Chief Ministers and they couldn’t pass the 10th grade, it reflects their approach towards education."

As the foundation day of Jan Suraj approaches on October 2, Kishor reiterated his stance against the liquor ban, stating he would continue to oppose it despite any potential loss of support from female voters. “Whether I get the vote of women or not, I will keep speaking against the liquor ban, as it is not in Bihar’s interest,” he asserted.
