Leopard Intrudes SP's Residence in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband, Sparks Panic

Leopard

Gariaband, Chhattisgarh: A startling incident unfolded on Tuesday night when a leopard entered the official residence of Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikhil Kumar Rakhecha in Gariaband district.

The unexpected intrusion sent shockwaves through the police and forest department, with the SP present at the bungalow during the encounter, heightening the tension.

How It Happened

The leopard reportedly entered the premises through the main gate of the Police Line Colony Phase 1 and made its way into the SP’s residence. Security personnel stationed at the bungalow quickly alerted the forest department. However, before action could be taken, the leopard scaled the rear wall and disappeared into the nearby forest.

A Growing Concern

This incident has raised significant alarm among local residents and officials, highlighting the increasing movement of wildlife in urban and semi-urban areas of Gariaband.

The district, surrounded by forests and hills, has witnessed similar wildlife intrusions in the past, making this a recurring challenge for authorities.

Leopard Sightings and Safety Concerns

The proximity of the SP’s bungalow to the district office and police colony has heightened fears of potential threats to these areas. While the leopard caused no harm during its brief intrusion, the incident has left residents anxious.

Forest department teams remain on high alert, monitoring the area for any signs of the animal’s return.
