Kanker, Chhattisgarh: A tragic incident unfolded in the Kodagaon area of Kanker forest range, where a leopard attacked a young villager, leading to his death. The victim has been identified as Dwaraka Bhoyar, a resident of Bazaarpara in Kondagaon.

Details of the Incident

According to locals, Dwaraka Bhoyar had gone to the local market and was walking back home after finishing his errands. On his way, he stopped briefly to rest by the roadside. During this pause, a leopard hiding in the nearby bushes attacked him. The attack proved fatal, and his mutilated body was discovered approximately 200 meters inside the forest, away from the roadside.

Response by Authorities

Upon receiving information, the Forest Department team arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. Forest Range Officer Rehman Khan stated, "A panchnama has been prepared, and the body has been sent for post-mortem.

Further investigation and necessary actions will follow." The Forest Department is currently patrolling the area, closely monitoring the leopard's movements. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and take precautions to avoid further incidents.

This tragic event highlights the increasing human-wildlife conflict in the region, emphasizing the need for awareness and preventive measures to protect both humans and wildlife.
