Landed property connected to Pakistan's former President, to be auctioned, in Uttar Pradesh
A surprising connection has emerged between a property in Kotana village, Uttar Pradesh, and former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. The auction process for this property, which is connected to Musharraf, has begun and will continue until September 5, 2024. This land, registered as enemy property under the name of Musharraf’s relatives, will be auctioned by the Uttar Pradesh government.
The land in question, approximately two hectares in Kotana, was owned by Noor, who moved to Pakistan in 1965. The Uttar Pradesh government decided to auction this property as per the guidelines for enemy property, following orders from the central government.
The auction will be finalized by September 5, and the property will be transferred to the new owner.
According to ADM officials, there are eight plots of enemy property in Kotana, totaling two hectares. This land was declared enemy property in 2010 and is registered under the name Noor, who was a resident of Kotana and moved to Pakistan in 1965. No land is registered under Musharraf's name in the revenue records.
Local villagers claim that Noor, who was also related to Musharraf, lived in Kotana for 18 years after the creation of Pakistan before moving to Pakistan in 1965. The villagers have mentioned that Musharraf's family lived in Kotana before moving to Pakistan during the partition. The property, including a mansion and farmland in Kotana, was left behind and classified as enemy property.
The property in Kotana, which includes Musharraf’s family mansion and agricultural land, was sold off, leaving only 13 bighas of farmland under the name of Musharraf’s brother, Dr. Javed Musharraf, and other family members. The mansion in Kotana is now registered under Musharraf's cousin Humayun. About fifteen years ago, the remaining land was also categorized as enemy property.
The auction process for this property in Kotana has begun, and the administrative procedure will be completed by September 5, 2024. Pervez Musharraf passed away on February 5, 2023.
