Kailash Makwana Appointed as Madhya Pradesh's 32nd DGP

DGP

Madhya Pradesh has announced the appointment of Kailash Makwana, a 1988 batch IPS officer, as the state's 32nd Director General of Police (DGP). Currently serving as the Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation, Makwana will take oath as DGP on December 1, succeeding Sudhir Saxena, who retires on November 30, 2024.

Transition of Leadership

Sudhir Saxena, who has held the DGP position since March 4, 2020, is set to retire at the end of this month. With the official order issued late Saturday night by the Home Department, the transition marks a significant change in the state’s law enforcement leadership.

Focus on Anti-Corruption

Makwana, known for his decisive and bold leadership, previously served as the DG of Lokayukta during the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. During his tenure, he expedited investigations into pending corruption cases, showcasing his commitment to accountability and justice. However, his tenure at Lokayukta lasted only six months before he was reassigned.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, currently on an international tour until November 30, is expected to oversee Makwana’s assumption of office upon his return. Makwana will officially take charge on December 1, ensuring a seamless transition in leadership.

Makwana’s track record reflects his determination to tackle corruption and ensure efficiency in the police force. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to enhance governance and strengthen law enforcement in Madhya Pradesh.

With Makwana at the helm, the state anticipates a focus on transparency, operational efficiency, and public trust in law enforcement.
