Jay Shah

New Delhi – On December 1, 2024, Jay Shah officially began his tenure as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In his first statement as Chairman, Shah outlined his key priorities, including leveraging the opportunity of cricket's inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and accelerating the growth of women's cricket.

“I am honored to assume the role of ICC Chairman and am grateful for the support and trust extended by the ICC Directors and Member Boards,” Shah said. "This is an exciting time for the sport as we prepare for the LA28 Olympic Games and work towards making cricket more inclusive and engaging for fans worldwide." He further emphasized, "We are at a critical juncture with the coexistence of multiple formats, and there is a need to accelerate the growth of women’s cricket. Cricket holds immense potential on a global scale, and I look forward to collaborating with the ICC team and member countries to seize these opportunities and take the sport to new heights."

Jay Shah brings a wealth of experience in cricket administration, having started his journey in 2009 with the Gujarat Cricket Association, where he played a key role in the development of the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. In 2019, he became the youngest-ever Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Additionally, Shah has served as the President of the Asian Cricket Council and as the Chair of the ICC's Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee.

Shah now succeeds Greg Barclay, who served as ICC Chairman from November 2020. Shah acknowledged Barclay’s contributions, expressing gratitude for the milestones achieved under his leadership. Under Shah’s leadership, the ICC is expected to focus on expanding the global reach of cricket, increasing female participation in the sport, and ensuring cricket’s return to the Olympic Games in 2028.
