The Prime Minister’s Office has confirmed that James Cleverly has been appointed as new Home Secretary of Britain. This comes after PM Rishi Sunak sacked cabinet colleague Suella Braverman from her post this morning itself. Cleverly was till now Foreign Secretary in the Rishi Sunak cabinet.
The announcement confirms the speculations that had been triggered by his meeting with the Prime Minister Sunak at 10 Downing Street soon after Braverman was sacked.
Both Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman are Indian origin politicians in British politics.
Braverman was sacked possibly for her voicing of opinion on the pro-Palestinian rallies in the aftermath of Israeli war in Gaza strip after Oct 7 terror attack.
Meanwhile, former British Prime Minister David Cameron has been appointed as new Foreign Secretary.
