Jaffa terror

Israeli police reported a suspected terrorist shooting on Tuesday in Jaffa, located in south Tel Aviv, resulting in multiple casualties. At least two gunmen were involved in the attack.

Both assailants have been neutralized, according to Israeli officials.

The police confirmed that eight individuals were killed and seven others were injured during the incident. The shooting occurred on Jerusalem Street, near a light rail train station, as reported by The Times of Israel. Israel's MDA ambulance service stated they received a report of gunfire injuries at 7:01 PM (9:31 PM IST).

Medical personnel provided on-site treatment to several wounded individuals, some of whom were unconscious, as noted by MDA and cited by Reuters.

Videos captured two armed terrorists exiting the train and opening fire, with civilians seen lying on the ground to shield themselves.

Simultaneously, sirens were activated across Israel on Tuesday night as Iran launched a barrage of missiles in retaliation for recent attacks that resulted in the deaths of key Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon.

Israel has instructed its residents to stay alert and seek refuge in bomb shelters. Reports indicate that at least eight people were shot dead, with several others, including a dog, injured in the suspected terror attack in Jaffa late Tuesday. The two assailants were reported as neutralized by security forces.

According to Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency services, eight people were critically injured and later succumbed to their injuries. Authorities are concerned about additional casualties following the shooting near a traffic crossing at a railway station.

Local media initially reported four fatalities and at least nine injuries from the shooting incident in Jaffa. Shortly after, Iran's missile attacks on Israel escalated tensions in the region, raising concerns of a broader conflict. The Israeli military reported that Iran fired approximately 100 missiles at Israel, prompting air raid sirens across the country and urging residents to remain near bomb shelters.

A U.S. official warned of "severe consequences" for Iran's ballistic missile launch against Israel. U.S. naval and aerial forces are on standby in the region to assist Israel if needed. In response, Israel has threatened to retaliate against Iran. Israeli army radio announced that flights at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv have been halted. Additionally, Israel advised Lebanese citizens to evacuate border areas to avoid potential harm from limited ground operations targeting Hezbollah.
