Injectable long lasting male contraceptive, what India’s ICMR has achieved

In a major breakthrough, the Indian Council of Medical Research has successfully completed trials on the injectable male contraceptive. The injection has been tested on 303 male volunteers who were followed up after a seven year period after administering the contraceptive.

The ICMR is confident that this injection will act as a reliable alternative to the surgical vasectomy and would provide long lasting sterility. This contraceptive as per ICMR studies is said to be effective for a duration of 13 years.
