India’s Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the night operational capability of an indigenous attack helicopter squadron deployed in forward area.
The Army Commander awarded the Northern Command Flight safety trophy and felicitated the crew for maintaining the highest level of operational preparedness.
India is actively raising attack helicopter squadrons to be able to defend but also provide credible deterrence to adversaries.
India operates American Apache series heavy attack helicopters but also has sizeable fleet of armed Dhruv copters and is also close to having light attack helicopters Prachanda, in substantial numbers to counter both Pakistan and China.
