Indian Photographers Claim Spotlight at Andrei Stenin Contest

New Delhi: Indian photographers made a remarkable mark at the Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest exhibition, which opened on April 4 at the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) gallery. Young Indian photographers won one first prize and three special jury prizes.
Achievements of Indian Winners:
- Rajendra Mohan Pandey (Kolkata) won the First Prize for his photo series "The Outcast Widows," which offers a poignant glimpse into the lives of widows in Vrindavan.
- Apratim Pal received a Special Jury Prize for his photo "Struggle for Existence," which highlights the pollution of the Yamuna River.
-Kaushik Dutta was awarded a Special Prize for his powerful images of the Balasore train tragedy.
- Deepayan Bose received a Special Prize for his vivid photograph capturing a traditional animal race in Bengal.

The Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest is a Russian initiative launched to encourage young photojournalists. It is held in memory of Russian photojournalist Andrei Stenin, who lost his life while covering the conflict in Ukraine. *This year, Indian photographers drew global attention to issues such as environmental degradation, social exclusion, and cultural heritage through their compelling visuals.
