In West Bengal, as many as six Dead in Bus Accident in Kalimpong District
The death toll in a bus accident in West Bengal's Kalimpong district has risen to six, a police officer confirmed on Saturday evening. Initially, the death toll was reported to be four.
According to Kalimpong's Superintendent of Police, Shreehari Pandey, "The number of fatalities in the bus accident has increased to six."
The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon near Andheri when a bus traveling from Siliguri to Gangtok lost control. Several other passengers were also injured in the incident and have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police officials have confirmed that the bus was en route from Siliguri to Gangtok when the tragedy struck near Andheri.
Shreehari Pandey further reported that the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing, and many injured passengers are receiving medical care in local hospitals.
