Odisha CM Mohan Majhi announces a new initiative to identify Bangladeshi infiltrators across state districts, following recent changes in Bangladesh.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced a new initiative to identify Bangladeshi infiltrators residing in various districts of the state. This step has been taken in response to the recent instability and government change in Bangladesh. During a session of the Odisha Assembly on Monday, CM Majhi stated that strict instructions have been given to the authorities to address the issue.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi made this announcement in response to a question by MLA Bhaskar Madhei, who had inquired about the measures taken by the state government regarding the presence of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Kendrapara, Bhubaneswar, and Puri. In his reply, the CM mentioned that all districts have been instructed accordingly. He explained that district collectors and superintendents of police would be responsible for identifying the infiltrators, with a particular focus on districts where the presence of Bangladeshis is higher. During this process, a committee will work at the block, tehsil, and police station levels to systematically identify infiltrators and prepare documentation.

CM Majhi's directive is based on a report from the previous Biju Janata Dal government, which identified 3,740 Bangladeshi infiltrators. The affected districts include Bargarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Bhubaneswar.
