Historic Day for Chhattisgarh: Chief Minister showers flower petals on Kanwariyas from helicopter
As the auspicious holy month of Sawan continues, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed thousands of Kanwariyas at the ancient, archaeological, religious, and historical site of Baba Bhoramdev Temple by showering flower petals from a helicopter.
During this historic event, CM Sai greeted the Kanwariyas and devotees with chants of "Har Har Mahadev" and "Bol Bam," boosting their spirits. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma also joined in welcoming the Kanwariyas.
This marks the first time in Chhattisgarh's history that the Chief Minister personally welcomed Shiv devotees by showering flower petals from a helicopter. On this unique occasion, CM Sai performed special rituals and Rudrabhishek for Lord Shiva at Baba Bhoramdev, praying for the prosperity and well-being of the state.
CM Sai and Deputy CM Sharma interacted with devotees in the temple premises and served them kheer, puri, rice, and prasad with their own hands at the community feast. Present at the event were Pandaria MLA Bhavna Bohra, District Panchayat President Sushila Ram Kumar Bhatt, Janpad President Indrani Chandrawanshi, former MLA Ashok Sahu, and Nagar Panchayat President Manharan Kaushik, who also performed rituals and sought blessings from Lord Shiva at Baba Bhoramdev.
A Historic Event for Shiv Devotees in Sawan
On this occasion, the Chief Minister first extended greetings for the month of Sawan to all the devotees. He expressed his fortune of having the opportunity to visit Lord Bholenath on the third Monday of Sawan and prayed for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of all the people of the state. This event was a historic celebration for Shiv devotees during the holy month of Sawan.
Every year, thousands of Kanwariyas perform Jalabhishek at the historic and religious sites of Baba Bhoramdev Temple, as well as at Budha Mahadev and Jaleshwar Mahadev in Dongariya, located in Kabirdham district. Devotees also undertake a pilgrimage from Amarkantak to various Shiva temples in Chhattisgarh to offer water.
The Historic Tradition of the Kanwar Yatra
Baba Bhoramdev Temple, dating back to the 11th century, is a site of ancient, historical, and archaeological significance, where the Kanwar Yatra is organized every year during the month of Sawan. During this pilgrimage, devotees carry holy water from the Narmada River in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, and traverse challenging paths to perform Jalabhishek at Baba Bhoramdev, Jaleshwar Mahadev, and Panchmukhi Budha Mahadev. They sing praises of Lord Shiva with chants of "Bol Bam" along the way.
Under the leadership of CM Sai, this year's Kanwar Yatra was particularly memorable, with unprecedented arrangements made by the government for welcoming and serving the Kanwariyas.
