High-profile honey trap scandal, alleged journalist arrested, more arrests likely
In the high-profile honey trap scandal from Balodabazar, alleged journalist Ashish Shukla, who had been on the run for four months, has been arrested. Police are currently interrogating Shukla and will present him in court following questioning. It is anticipated that further names may emerge during the investigation.
Previously, the mastermind of the case, Shirish Pandey, and constable Anjor Manjhi had been apprehended. With Shukla’s arrest, the total number of people detained in connection with the case has risen to eight.
Prior to his arrest, Shukla had released a video on social media, claiming he would surrender. The Balodabazar police had already arrested seven individuals related to the case on August 30. The investigation revealed that the accused were involved in extorting money from victims through honey trap schemes. The case also saw the arrest of a former legislator’s representative and a head constable from the Balodabazar police station earlier this year.
ASP Abhishek Singh noted that the arrest of Ashish Shukla concludes the eighth arrest in the honey trap case and indicated that additional suspects may be apprehended as the investigation progresses.
