Haryana Assembly Election, BJP issues list of 67 candidates, nine sitting legislators dropped, Cong-AAP negotiating seat sharing
Haryana Minister Anil Vij will be contesting from the Ambala Cantt Assembly constituency in the upcoming state elections, while Shruti Chaudhury, daughter of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhury, has been chosen as the party's candidate for the Tosham seat. On Wednesday, the BJP released its first list of 67 candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections, dropping nine sitting MLAs in the process.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who is currently the MLA for Karnal, will be contesting from the Ladwa constituency. The BJP has also fielded three Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) MLAs: Devendra Babli for Tohana, Ram Kumar Gautam for Safidon, and Anup Dhanak for Uklana.
Other notable candidates include former BJP MP Sunita Duggal from Ratia, Bhavya Bishnoi, son of former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi, from Adampur, and Aarti Singh, daughter of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, from Ateli. Rao Narbir Singh, who was rumored to have considered rebelling, has been fielded from Badshahpur.
Meanwhile, the JJP and Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) have issued their own list of 19 candidates, with Dushyant Chautala contesting from Uchana and Digvijay Chautala from Dabwali. Haryana is expected to witness a three-way contest between the BJP, Congress-AAP, and the JJP. Negotiations for seat-sharing between Congress and AAP are ongoing.
