Google has unveiled the latest iteration of its Pixel smartphone series, showcasing a strong emphasis on AI. During its Made by Google 2024 keynote, the tech giant revealed the long-anticipated Pixel 9 series, which includes four models: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold feature a 6.3-inch OLED display, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL boasts a slightly larger 6.8-inch display. All models support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Powered by the Tensor G4 chip, each phone promises up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge. Notably, the Pixel 9 is 35% brighter than its predecessor, the Pixel 8, and the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL offer up to 20x Super Res Zoom with Night Sight Video.

In terms of camera improvements, the Pixel 9 comes with a dual-camera setup featuring a 50MP wide lens and a 48MP ultrawide lens with Macro Focus. The Pixel 9 Pro series, including the 9 Pro Fold, is equipped with a triple-camera system. The 9 Pro Fold features a 48MP wide lens, a 10.5MP ultrawide lens with Macro Focus, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens with up to 5x zoom. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL include a 50MP wide lens, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with up to 5x zoom.

The Tensor G4 chip enhances Google's AI capabilities with Gemini Nano, enabling better understanding of text, images, and audio. Google has also introduced Gemini Live, a voice chatbot available to Gemini Advance subscribers, with a complimentary one-year subscription for those purchasing a Pixel 9 series smartphone.

Pricing for the Pixel 9 starts at $799 and is available in Pink, Mint Green, Black, and White. The Pixel 9 Pro is priced from $999, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL starts at $1,099, both in Light Pink, Light Grey, Black, and White. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold begins at $1,799 and is available in Black or White.

The Pixel 9 series will be released on September 9, with early availability from August 22 for purchases made through the Google Store or select retail partners. The new Pixel 9 models feature an updated design with a prominent camera bar, a silky matte glass back, and polished metal sides. The Pixel 9 also includes significant upgrades such as a 35% brighter 6.3-inch Actua display, improved camera specifications, and approximately 20% longer battery life compared to the Pixel 8.

All Pixel 9 phones come with seven years of OS, Pixel Drops, and security updates. Equipped with 12GB of RAM for the Pixel 9 and 16GB for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, the Tensor G4 chip, developed with Google DeepMind, is optimized for running advanced AI models, ensuring smooth and efficient AI-powered experiences.
