Gariaband Naxalite Encounter: 14 Bodies Brought to Raipur, Search Operation Ongoing

Raipur/Gariaband: In a significant development, the bodies of 14 Naxalites killed in a fierce encounter in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh have been brought to Raipur.

The deceased include six women and eight men. The bodies were transported to Raipur early Wednesday morning at around 5 AM, where a team of 22 doctors is set to conduct autopsies.

Intensive Search Operations Continue

The encounter, which took place in the forested areas near Bhalaudiggi in the Kulhadi Ghat region of Gariaband, has prompted a sustained search operation by security forces. The District Reserve Guard (DRG) and CRPF CoBRA units were actively engaged throughout Tuesday night.

According to Gariaband SP Nikhil Rakhecha, who is overseeing the operation, security forces continue to comb the area for remaining Naxalite elements.

Odisha’s SOG Team Played a Key Role

The operation also saw the involvement of approximately 75 personnel from Odisha’s Nuapada Special Operations Group (SOG). During the encounter, one SOG personnel sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Narayana Hospital, Devendra Nagar, Raipur.

The bodies of the 14 Naxalites were handed over to Chhattisgarh Police, with the Odisha SOG team returning to Nuapada without taking any of the bodies.

Impact of the Operation

The operation marks a significant blow to Naxalite activity in the region and highlights the coordinated efforts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha security forces. The encounter and subsequent operations are being closely monitored by senior officials to ensure the complete dismantling of Naxal infrastructure in the area.
