Four naxals surrender, including two women, in Kanker
The Chhattisgarh government’s rehabilitation policy has led to the surrender of four Naxalites, including a commander. These Naxalites were active in the Kuemari Area Committee of the North Bastar Division. Among those surrendering are two female and two male Naxalites, all of whom had bounties totaling ₹12 lakhs on their heads.
Kanker SP I.K. Lichala reported that Surajna alias Sitaya Koram, a former commander of Kuemari LOS with a ₹5 lakh bounty, had 24 cases registered against her from 2007 to 2024. She was also involved in a 2010 incident in Narayanpur where 27 soldiers were martyred. Naresh alias Lakku Punem, a member of the Kuemari Area Committee, also had a ₹5 lakh bounty and was involved in five Naxalite incidents from 2013 to 2023.
Sagar alias Ganga and Anju alias Sarita Shori, members of Kuemari LOS, had bounties of ₹1 lakh each and were involved in 12 Naxalite incidents from 2017 to 2023. All four Naxalites decided to surrender due to the Chhattisgarh government’s rehabilitation policy, which is part of the ongoing anti-Naxalite operations. They have been provided with a reward of ₹25,000 each for their surrender.
