Former Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma, son, reach ED office, being questioned in liquor scam case

Kawasi Lakhma

Former Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma and his son Harish Lakhma will face questioning by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers yet again today.

Both Lakhma and his son have already been interrogated earlier following raids at their homes. The duo has arrived at the ED office for their questioning today.

Earlier, the ED had summoned Kawasi Lakhma and his son Harish in connection with the ongoing Chhattisgarh liquor scam case probe.

The ED had conducted an intense round of questioning, lasting about 8 hours, after which both individuals were released.

Upon leaving the ED office, both appeared visibly tense. They stated that they had provided all the necessary information the ED had requested.

Speaking to the media outside the ED office at that time, former Minister Kawasi Lakhma confirmed that he had answered all the questions posed by the ED officers. He also mentioned that he had submitted all the required documents, as requested by the investigating agency.

However, Lakhma also pointed out that the ED did not respond to the questions he had asked them.

"I have provided all the documents related to my assets, including those of my wife and daughter. As for my son and daughter-in-law, I will be providing their details soon," said Kawasi Lakhma.

The interrogation of both the Lakhmas is part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged liquor scam in Chhattisgarh, with authorities seeking to uncover financial irregularities and potential involvement in the scandal.
