The political landscape in Jharkhand is experiencing turbulence as former Chief Minister Champai Soren's sudden departure to Delhi, along with six key legislators, raises questions about a potential defection to the BJP.

Former Chief Minister

In the midst of political speculation surrounding former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, a significant development has emerged. Soren has departed for Delhi, reportedly in close contact with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Along with Soren, six legislators are also traveling to Delhi.

There have been issues with communication between these legislators and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leadership, leading to speculation that they may join the BJP. The JMM legislators reportedly out of contact include Dashrath Gagrai, Ramdas Soren, Chamra Linda, Lobin Hembrom, and Sameer Mohanty.

Sources indicate that Soren stayed at a hotel in Kolkata overnight, where he met BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. He flew to Delhi this morning with his personal staff. It is rumored that during his visit to Delhi, Soren might meet with top BJP leaders. Additionally, there is speculation that he might travel to Assam to meet Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who oversees Jharkhand for the BJP, is based.

When asked about joining the BJP, Soren smiled and responded ambiguously, "You are asking such questions, but what can we say? We are right here in front of you." He then left in a vehicle. It is noted that Soren had to resign from the Chief Minister position after Hemant Soren's return from jail, and since then, there have been ongoing discussions about his dissatisfaction.
