Former Chief Election Commissioner passed away

Former Chief Election Commissioner MS Gill passed away after battling illness briefly. Survived by wife and three daughters, he passed away at a private hospital.

It is learnt that MS Gill’s last rites will be performed at Lodi road crematorium on Monday itself.

“The Election Commission deeply mourns the passing away of its former Chief Election Commissioner, Dr MS Gill. His leadership and commitment to the electoral process will continue to inspire us at the Commission”, stated the Election Commission of India.

MS Gill, after retirement as CEC, went on to join the Indian National Congress party. He got to serve as Member of Rajya Sabha representing Punjab.
