Firing on Hindu Sena National President Vishnu Gupta Near Ajmer, Investigation Underway

Ajmer, Rajasthan – Hindu Sena National President Vishnu Gupta, who recently claimed that the Ajmer Dargah is originally a temple, was fired upon early Saturday morning.
Gupta reported the incident to the police and media, causing a stir in the administration. The firing incident occurred near Gagwana Ladpura bridge while Gupta was traveling from Ajmer to Delhi.
Details of the Incident
The attack reportedly took place around 6:30 AM when two unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire on Gupta’s car. Fortunately, the bullets did not hit him, and he escaped unhurt. Gupta sped up his car to evade the attackers, who fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Gupta informed the police about the attack, prompting senior officials, including Ajmer Superintendent of Police Vandita Rana, to visit the scene. Forensic teams have been called to investigate. A bullet mark on Gupta’s car is being examined as part of the probe.
Gupta’s Claims and Security Concerns
Gupta, who has been vocal about his claim that the Ajmer Dargah is actually a temple dedicated to Lord Sankat Mochan Mahadev, has previously received death threats. He had earlier requested security due to the sensitivity of his statements and legal petitions.
On Friday, Gupta was in Ajmer to attend a court hearing regarding his petition claiming the Ajmer Dargah's historical identity as a temple. He stayed overnight at a hotel and left for Delhi on Saturday morning with a companion when the attack occurred.
Police Investigation
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Deepak Kumar stated that the case is being thoroughly investigated. "Vishnu Gupta has informed us that two unidentified individuals fired at him. We are verifying the details, and forensic teams are analyzing the evidence," Kumar said.
Who is Vishnu Gupta?
Vishnu Gupta is known for his controversial statements and legal actions. In December 2024, he publicly claimed that the Ajmer Dargah, revered as Khwaja Sahib’s shrine, was originally a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. He alleged that the site was renamed after Islamic invasions and that the historical evidence supports his claim.
Gupta’s petition in court included documents and records to substantiate his claims. He believes the site, originally called "Ajaimeru," was established during the reign of Prithviraj Chauhan's father. Gupta has argued that his assertions are backed by historical texts, including references to Khwaja Sahib’s role in religious conversions during the era.
What’s Next?
The police have heightened security in light of the incident and are investigating potential threats to Gupta. Meanwhile, the legal case concerning the Ajmer Dargah continues, with responses from all parties expected in the coming days. This incident has added another layer of tension to the already sensitive matter surrounding the historical and religious claims linked to the Ajmer Dargah.
