Fire breaks out in children’s hospital, 12 rescued but 6 perished, know more

In Delhi, a massive fire broke out at a New Born Baby Care Hospital in Vivek Vihar. As per a Fire Officer, the blaze was extinguished completely and 11-12 people were rescued. They had to be taken to hospital.

It is learnt that a total of 12 children were rescued, out of which 6 have died, 1 is on the ventilator and 5 others are admitted to the hospital.

Director, Delhi Fire Department, Atul Garg says, “…It was a very tough operation. We made two teams. One team started firefighting because there was a blast of cylinders, we can say the chain of blast of cylinders. So we had to save ourselves also. We started rescue operations for babies as well. Unfortunately, we could not save all the children. We removed all the twelve babies to the hospital. But after arrival, they declared that 6 were dead. That is a regrettable incident…”

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj says, “…12 of the newborn babies were rescued but, unfortunately, 6 of them died due to suffocation, one more child is in critical condition. I tried calling the health secretary but he is not picking up the call… We will take such strict action that none of the officials commit such negligence in future. We are with the families who have lost their babies. I’ll talk to the DCP regarding this that the prosecution to be launched on the owners as soon as possible.”
