Farooq Abdullah Stuns, Sings Hindu Devotional Song at Vaishno Devi Ashram, Supports Locals Against Ropeway Project

Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister and National Conference leader, Farooq Abdullah, is known for his political acumen as well as his engagement in religious activities.
Recently, during a devotional event at an ashram in Katra, he surprised everyone by singing the bhajan "Tune Mujhe Bulaya Sherawaliye."

Devotion at Vaishno Devi Ashram
At the ashram, Farooq Abdullah joined a singer and children to sing the devotional song dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi. His rendition of "Tune Mujhe Bulaya Sherawaliye, Main Aaya Main Aaya Sherawaliye" showcased his spiritual connection.
During the event, he also voiced his support for local residents protesting against the proposed ropeway project in Katra.
Concerns Over Ropeway Project
Abdullah expressed his concerns over the ropeway project, stating that temple authorities should avoid any action that could harm local interests. He emphasized that the power to shape governance lies with the people, adding that locals are now actively engaging with officials to discuss the project’s construction site.
‘Religion Should Not Be Misused for Selfish Gains’
Highlighting the livelihood of those living in the hills, Abdullah said these people rely on Mata Vaishno Devi’s blessings for their sustenance but are being ignored. He stated, “When the power of God prevails, everything else fades away.” He further pointed out that the core teachings of all religions are the same, but people often misuse religion for selfish purposes.
