Fake Army Captain Arrested for Cheating Women in Lucknow: Deceived Victims with False Promises of Marriage and Sexual Exploitation

Lucknow News – In a shocking case of deception and exploitation, the Sarojininagar police in Lucknow have arrested a man who posed as an Army Captain to manipulate women into sexual exploitation and extortion.
The accused, identified as Haider Ali Beg from Odisha, used a fake identity on Instagram to lure women by pretending to be a high-ranking military officer, including an NSG Commando.
Over the years, he had successfully swindled several women out of large sums of money, while enjoying a lavish lifestyle funded by his victims.
The Deceitful Scheme Unveiled
Haider Ali, who is originally from Balasore, Odisha, had been using a fake Instagram account under the name Hardik Baglo to attract Hindu women. Posing in Army uniforms, he convinced them of his supposed military status, impressing them with his fabricated persona.
He even learned basic English from YouTube to appear more convincing. According to police reports, he would exploit these women by offering to find them jobs and asking for money in exchange for "help," all the while sexually exploiting them.
In one such case, a woman from Lucknow became suspicious after his repeated visits to her home and inconsistent details about his posting. Upon realizing the scam, she filed a complaint with the Sarojininagar police.
The Arrest and Discovery
Upon investigation, the police arrested Haider Ali and discovered a variety of incriminating items in his possession. These included fake Army uniforms, NSG commando badges, and military caps.
Furthermore, the police seized two Aadhaar cards – one in his real name Haider Ali and another in the name Hardik Baglo. There were also fake Army-related documents, including a forged Army Canteen Board card. The police also found evidence of sexual exploitation and financial extortion.
Haider had tricked one woman into believing that he was an Army Captain, and in the guise of marriage, he sexually exploited her and stole gold jewelry worth lakhs. After being caught, Haider admitted that he was not an Army officer, nor an NSG Commando, but an eighth-grade dropout.
How the Scam Worked
According to the police, Haider's modus operandi involved using social media, particularly Instagram, to create fake identities of influential military personnel. He would then develop online relationships with his victims, promising marriage and career opportunities.
Once trust was gained, he would either exploit the women physically or manipulate them into handing over money and valuable items under the pretense of helping them.
In one instance, Haider targeted a divorced woman from Lucknow. She had been in an abusive marriage and was in the midst of a court case with her husband. While going through this difficult phase, she connected with Haider on Instagram, believing him to be a captain in the Indian Army.
Over time, he convinced her to marry him and took four and a half lakhs worth of jewelry under the pretext of future expenses, while also exploiting her sexually. The woman only realized the truth when she discovered Haider’s real identity and his involvement in the scam.
Police Investigation Continues
The Sarojininagar Police have not only arrested Haider Ali but are also conducting a thorough investigation into his movements in the Lucknow Cantt area. Authorities are trying to ascertain whether Haider was involved in any anti-national activities, considering his use of Army-related items and his deceptive activities.
Information has also been shared with the Indian Army for further verification. Police Superintendent Nipun Agarwal stated that they have launched an investigation into his whereabouts and are verifying whether he was associated with any criminal activities beyond the frauds.
Haider Ali's Fake Military Identity
Haider's fake military credentials included a range of army uniforms, badges, and a commando beret, all intended to convince victims of his fabricated military background. His possession of multiple fraudulent documents further solidified his ability to deceive his victims for years. One of the most shocking aspects of the case was Haider's ability to wear army attire and visit victims' homes in full uniform.
This made it easier for him to manipulate the women into trusting him, thereby carrying out his exploitation without suspicion.
