Electric engine

At the Manikpur railway station in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, an electric engine of a freight train experienced a sudden brake failure while shunting. As a result, the train could not stop and was eventually derailed to bring it to a halt. Fortunately, the driver of the freight train was unharmed, and no major accident occurred due to the electric engine.

The incident took place when the engine was shunting from Manikpur railway junction towards the outer area of Prayagraj. When the driver applied the brakes, it was discovered that they had failed. The train was brought to a stop by embedding it about 15 feet into the ground.

In a separate incident on the same day, two coaches of the Indore-Jabalpur Overnight Express (22191) derailed near Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh. This occurred as the train was entering Jabalpur station. The low speed of the train prevented a more severe accident.
