ED

Raipur: In connection with the ongoing CG liquor scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma to appear at their office on Friday.

Lakhma is expected to be questioned regarding the allegations in the case. In response, Lakhma has stated, "I respect the law and will provide all the necessary information. I will respond to the allegations made against me during the questioning tomorrow. I will also provide all the requested documents to the ED."

Earlier, on Saturday, an ED team had raided the residences of Kawasi Lakhma and his son, Harish Kawasi, in Sukma-Konta and Raipur.

Reacting to the raid, Lakhma claimed that he was unaware of the scam and accused the authorities of making errors. "I am illiterate, and I was kept in the dark. I had no knowledge of this scam," he said. Lakhma further labeled the ED's actions as retaliatory, stating that the agency had taken both his and his son's mobile phones.

He mentioned that the ED team remained at his house until 8 PM on Saturday night, but no documents or evidence were found. "They searched every corner of the house, including the bed and kitchen. They asked about the extent of my property, but despite a thorough search, they did not find even 100 rupees," he added.
