It was a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Soreng, Sikkim, early this morning.The moderate tremor was felt across the region, but there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
This incident follows a series of recent earthquakes in the northeastern region of India. On August 6, Manipur and Meghalaya experienced earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.1 and 2.9, respectively, while Arunachal Pradesh recorded a 2.3 magnitude tremor. Fortunately, these events did not result in significant damage or loss of life.
Today's earthquake in Sikkim had its epicenter at a depth of 10 km, located at latitude 27.22° North and longitude 88.33° East.
Earlier, on August 6, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake also hit Kamjong in Manipur. The epicenter of that quake was recorded at a depth of 85 km, at latitude 25.00° North and longitude 94.57° East.
