DRDO and Indian Navy Successfully Test VL-SRSAM, intercepted a high-speed aerial target
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have successfully tested the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from Chandipur, Odisha. The missile, launched from a land-based vertical launcher, effectively intercepted a high-speed aerial target, demonstrating its advanced capabilities including the Proximity Fuse and Seeker.
The test, conducted at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), involved tracking and engaging a low-flying, high-speed target. Data collected from various range instruments, such as Radar, Electro-Optical Tracking Systems (EOTS), and Telemetry, confirmed the missile's performance.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the successful test, emphasizing the missile system's reliability. DRDO Chairman highlighted the VL-SRSAM’s potential as a future force multiplier for the Indian Navy, underlining its significant role in enhancing naval defense capabilities.
