Dial 1962, for treatment of livestock at doorstep, in Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh's Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, funded by the Government of India and operated by the state government's Livestock Development Department, has established mobile veterinary units in all districts of the state. To access veterinary services, livestock owners must call the helpline at 1962, after which a 1962 vehicle with a doctor will arrive at their doorstep to provide timely treatment.
Upon dialing 1962, the emergency service center collects basic information from the livestock owner. When an emergency call is received at any time of the day, the call center relays information about the nearest government mobile veterinary clinic or ambulance. The veterinarian on duty assesses the type of emergency and either provides online medical direction (OLMD) or dispatches an ambulance.
The ambulance, accompanied by a veterinarian, reaches the farmer's doorstep, evaluates the condition of the sick livestock, and administers treatment on-site. Several companies have contracted with the state government to provide emergency services under this 1962 initiative, and they are continuously operating to ensure effective assistance.
