Devotees Mistake AC Discharge for 'Charan Amrit' at Banke Bihari Temple, Viral Video Sparks Debate

Devotees at Mathura’s Banke Bihari Temple mistakenly drinking water dripping from AC discharge tubes, thinking it to be 'Charan Amrit,' as seen in a viral video.

Banke Bihari Temple

In a surprising scene at Mathura’s Banke Bihari Temple, devotees were seen collecting and drinking water dripping from elephant-shaped tubes, mistaking it for 'Charan Amrit'—holy water from Lord Krishna’s feet. Viral footage shows worshippers cupping their hands or using cups to collect the water. However, the water was actually discharge from an air conditioning unit.

A temple visitor recording the video clarified, "This is AC water, not Charan Amrit from Lord Krishna’s feet." Despite the revelation, several devotees continued to collect and drink the water, sparking an online debate.

The video, which has over 3.8 million views on X, has drawn reactions ranging from skepticism to calls for greater awareness. Some questioned the devotees' actions, while others stressed the need for critical thinking.

Medical expert 'The Liver Doc' issued a health warning, stating that AC discharge can carry dangerous bacteria like Legionella, which causes Legionnaires' disease. Many users suggested that the temple should put up a cautionary notice to prevent similar incidents.
