Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi tweeted to say, "Our brothers and sisters in Wayanad have endured a devastating tragedy, and they need our support to recover from the unimaginable losses they have faced. I have donated my entire month's salary to aid in the relief and rehabilitation efforts for those affected. I sincerely urge all fellow Indians to contribute whatever they can—every little bit makes a difference...".

According to KPCC General Secretary M. Liju, the recent donation is part of a fundraising initiative by the Congress' state unit, following Gandhi's pledge to provide 100 houses for residents of Wayanad affected by the devastating landslides on July 30. As part of this effort, a mobile app named 'Stand with Wayanad - INC' has been launched. Liju also noted that Congress MP K. Sudhakaran is actively monitoring the progress of the rehabilitation work in Wayanad. Additionally, party units, subsidiaries, MPs, and MLAs have been informed about their respective donation targets. The statement highlighted that Congress workers, supporters, and leaders can contribute directly through the mobile app. Donors will receive an SMS notification and a digital receipt, which will include the signatures of KPCC President K. Sudhakaran and Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan. A nine-member committee has been established by the KPCC to lead the fundraising and reconstruction efforts. The KPCC has exempted its mandalam committees in Wayanad from participating in fundraising activities. The landslides in Wayanad, triggered by heavy rains, caused widespread destruction, claiming over 200 lives and severely impacting many residents.
