Desperation in Europe, German Chancellor describes BRICS countries as reps of Global South

At a time when many a nations including India were invited to be part of the consultative process of the G7 countries, there has been an interesting post from none other than German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

He took to posting on X to say that G7 is not an exclusive club. He then said that this is why many representatives of the Global South were invited and were also consulted.

‘…This must continue to be the case in the future. Because we want a partnership from which everyone benefits..’, he said.

This means a lot coming from German Chancellor at a time, one of the biggest economies in Europe, which is facing domestic right wing political forces as well as uncertainty from ally United States which might choose a Donald Trump for the next Presidential term. German leader is appears genuinely concerned about the Russian threat at European borders and Chinese economic coercion.

It is this dire situation that has forced the German leader to seek partnership with major non-Western countries including India and Brazil. It is interesting to note that both India and Brazil are part of BRICS alliance, which is largely seen as anti-Western alliance keen to ditch US dollar and trade more among themselves.

Whats more, it can even be inferenced that perhaps German leader wants the two major BRICS countries to join in G7, which according to him is not an exclusive club.
