Speculations have picked up that Congress legislator Chintamani Maharaj may join BJP now that he has been denied ticket by the grand old party.
The speculations are rife amid the fact that BJP leader and former Minister Brijmohan Agrawal is visitint Samri today. Party sources claimed that the joining into the BJP may come as soon as today itself in the presence of BJP’s senior leader Brijmohan Agrawal.
Chintamani Maharaj had defeated Siddhartha Paikra in the last state election but this time he has been denied ticket leaving him aggrieved.
Congress has fielded Vijay Paikra from Saamri while BJP has given ticket to Udheshwari Paikra this time around.
With seven candidates yet to be announced, Congress has fielded 24 new candidates while it denied ticket to 18 sitting legislators.
