Delhi's Women to Receive Rs. 2100 per Month Under 'Mahila Samman Yojana'; Registration Starts Soon, Announces Arvind Kejriwal
In a major announcement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal revealed that the registration for the "Mahila Samman Yojana" will begin on December 23, 2024.
Under this scheme, women in Delhi will receive Rs. 2100 every month. To avail the benefits, registration is mandatory, and the process will be simple and accessible.
During a press conference, Kejriwal shared that the registration process would be hassle-free, with AAP volunteers visiting women’s homes to complete their registration.
"There is no need for you to go anywhere or stand in lines. Our team will come to you, register you, and provide you with a registration card," he stated. Kejriwal emphasized that the scheme will help women manage household expenses and support the education of daughters.
"This is a significant step towards empowering women in Delhi, especially with the rising inflation. We hope this assistance will bring much-needed relief," he added.
Free Healthcare for Senior Citizens under ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’
In addition to the Mahila Samman Yojana, Kejriwal also announced the launch of the 'Sanjeevani Yojana,' which will provide free medical treatment to senior citizens in Delhi.
Registration for this scheme will also begin on the same day. However, only Delhi voters will be eligible for the scheme. AAP volunteers will visit homes to collect voter IDs and ensure that no eligible senior is left out.
Kejriwal also called for assistance from the public to help update voter lists, adding, "If your name is missing from the voter list, inform our team, and we will ensure it's added."
Details of the Initiatives
The "Mahila Samman Yojana" will provide Rs. 2100 per month to women in Delhi.While this amount will be fully disbursed after the February elections, the government will offer an interim Rs. 1000 to women each month before the elections.
The "Sanjeevani Yojana" aims to provide senior citizens with free treatment, ensuring they receive medical care without any cost. Kejriwal also addressed the public’s queries about registration and assured them that there would be no need to stand in long lines.
"Our AAP workers will reach your doorstep for registration and hand over your registration card," he said. These initiatives are designed to provide financial and healthcare support to women and senior citizens in Delhi, bringing relief to many in the face of rising costs and healthcare challenges.
