A man accused of issuing death threats to Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has been arrested in Delhi. The accused, identified as Mahesh Pandey, was apprehended along with the mobile phone and SIM card used to send the threats. During initial questioning, Pandey denied any affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which had been suspected earlier.

Purnia SP Karthikey Sharma, in a press conference, revealed that the police tracked down Pandey following an investigation into the threats received by Yadav. Pandey reportedly made the threats using a Dubai-based SIM card belonging to his sister-in-law, who lives in Dubai. Police also seized mobile devices, including one belonging to Pandey’s wife, as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to police, Pandey had sourced Pappu Yadav’s contact details from Google and used multiple numbers to send the threats. The number initially used to make the threat was traced to Dubai, which remains under further scrutiny.

### Background of the Threat
The case gained traction following the murder of Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai, after which Yadav reported receiving threatening phone calls. Initially, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was suspected, leading to heightened political tension. Yadav subsequently appealed to the central government to enhance his security. In a recent video, Yadav publicly addressed the threat, stating, “If you want to kill me, then go ahead.”

The investigation continues as police verify the claims and examine all devices involved in the case.
