Delhi CM House Sealed: Sanjay Singh Criticizes LG, Calls It an Insult to Democracy

Sanjay Singh criticizes Delhi LG for sealing CM Atishi's residence, accusing BJP of orchestrating the move to control the Chief Minister's official bungalow amidst a political standoff.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh criticized the Lt Governor for sealing the Delhi CM's residence, calling it an unprecedented and disrespectful act towards a democratically elected woman chief minister. He accused the BJP of orchestrating the move, claiming that the LG forcibly removed the belongings of newly-appointed CM Atishi from the official residence. Singh questioned the authority under which the LG acted, especially after Atishi had already received the keys to the residence from PWD. He further alleged that the BJP, which has been out of power in Delhi for 27 years, is now trying to take control of the CM’s residence.

In a statement, the Delhi CM office expressed shock, stating that this was the first time in the nation's history that a chief minister's residence was vacated by force. The office accused the LG of acting on BJP's orders to allocate the residence to a senior BJP leader. Singh emphasized that it was an insult to a democratically elected government, especially when former CM Arvind Kejriwal had vacated the house following protocol, with no pending dues.

Sanjay Singh criticized the LG for disregarding protocol and for the timing of the incident, particularly during the auspicious Navratri festival. He remarked that the insult to a woman leader would not be forgiven by Goddess Durga. He questioned whether the LG followed similar procedures when he took office, comparing it to the treatment Atishi received.

The controversy erupted after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi's chief minister, and Atishi was appointed as his successor. After receiving the keys to the official residence on Flagstaff Road, Atishi began settling in, only to have her belongings forcibly removed. AAP accused the LG of deliberately obstructing Atishi from occupying the residence, despite it being vacated by Kejriwal.

The Delhi CM office claims that the LG, under BJP's influence, is refusing to allocate the official residence to Atishi. Meanwhile, BJP leaders, including opposition leader Vijender Gupta, accused Atishi of illegally occupying the bungalow and called for its sealing. The conflict has escalated into a political standoff, with AAP accusing the LG of violating protocol under BJP pressure to control the CM residence.
