Dantewada, January 6, 2025 – Head Constable Sannuram Karam, identified as Police Constable Number 33, was Killed In Action in an encounter in Dantewada. The brave officer was laid to rest with full honors as tributes were paid to him in Dantewada on Monday.

Karam, hailing from the village of Timenar in Mirtoor police station area, was remembered by his comrades, who were visibly emotional as they bid him farewell.

A tearful tribute ceremony was held at the Police Parade Ground in Dantewada, where fellow officers and local leaders gathered to honor his sacrifice.

As the body of the martyred officer was brought to the ground, eyes filled with tears, and the atmosphere was heavy with grief. His colleagues were seen struggling to hold back tears as they paid their respects.

Dantewada Pays Homage 

The tribute ceremony was attended by senior officials including Bastar IG Sunderraj P, DIG Kamlochan Kashyap, District Collector Mayank Chaturvedi, MLA Chhataram Atami, and the CEO of the District Panchayat.

Local politicians, police personnel, and residents of Dantewada also participated, offering their heartfelt condolences to the fallen hero. Head Constable Sannuram Karam had joined the police force on October 17, 2019, with a deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Born on November 20, 1991, in Dantewada, he had always harbored a strong desire to serve his country. Throughout his service, he exhibited remarkable dedication, performing his duties with unwavering commitment. His tragic martyrdom occurred during an anti-Naxal operation as part of the ongoing efforts to eliminate Naxalism in the region.

Ongoing Anti-Naxal Operations in Bastar

The martyrdom of Head Constable Karam comes amid intensified anti-Naxal operations across Bastar, aimed at eradicating the Maoist insurgency. The Central Government, led by Home Minister Amit Shah, has pledged to eliminate Naxalism by 2026, and operations continue with the forces regularly venturing into the Naxal-controlled zones to conduct search operations and dismantle extremist networks.

The sacrifice of Sannuram Karam is a reminder of the ongoing battle faced by law enforcement personnel in the region, as they continue to risk their lives to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
