Dalit man's murder in Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi writes to Uttar Pradesh CM, know more
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and MP from Raebareli, has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, demanding the immediate arrest of the main accused in the murder of a 22-year-old Dalit man, Arjun Pasi. Pasi was shot dead on August 11 following an altercation in his village of Pichwariya. While six suspects have been apprehended, the primary suspect, Vishal Singh, remains at large, allegedly due to political protection.
In his letter, Gandhi expressed concern that the lack of action against Singh has left the victim's family and the local Dalit community living in fear. After visiting the victim's family and meeting with local officials, Gandhi emphasized the urgency of ensuring justice. He called on CM Yogi to arrest the main accused promptly and update him on the actions taken to address the situation.
During his visit on August 20, Gandhi met with the grieving family and noted the widespread anger in the community over the perceived inaction against the mastermind behind the crime. He vowed to apply pressure to ensure that justice is served, stating that the murder was a "clear-cut" case of injustice that must be rectified.
