Court Orders Lead to Termination of 2,855 Assistant Teachers' Positions in Bastar and Sarguja

Bastar

In compliance with directives from the High Court and Supreme Court, the Directorate of Public Education has issued orders to terminate the services of B.Ed-qualified assistant teachers in the Bastar and Sarguja divisions.

This decision comes as part of efforts to appoint eligible candidates for 2,855 assistant teacher positions as per court instructions.

The order clarifies that the recruitment process for D.Ed-qualified candidates will be initiated with top priority. Following the directives from the Supreme Court and High Court, the state government had already issued orders for the appointment of D.Ed candidates, putting the jobs of B.Ed-qualified assistant teachers at risk.

In response, starting December 19, B.Ed assistant teachers staged a protest at Nava Raipur Tuta, demanding adjustments to secure their positions.

As no response came from the government even after 12 days, the protest escalated to a "Jal Satyagraha." Despite these efforts, the Directorate has now officially terminated the services of the B.Ed assistant teachers, adhering strictly to the legal rulings.
