Terming it a progressive step, Rahul Gandhi said that party Chief Ministers from Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan are also considering this and actioning this.

“The PM is incapable of doing the caste census. Our 3 out of 4 CMs are from the OBC category. Out of 10 BJP CMs, only one CM is from the OBC category. How many BJP CMs are from the OBC category? The PM doesn’t work for the OBCs but to distract them from main issues”, he said.

It seems that Congress has high hopes from this caste census promise in the upcoming five state elections, which the grand old party is desperate to win. This as Congress hopes for big electoral win in these elections and thus emerge in a stronger bargaining position when it comes to seat sharing with alliance partners for 2024 parliamentary poll.
