CM’s Media Advisor Responds to Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s Allegations in a Lengthy Letter

Former Chief Minister

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Media Advisor, Pankaj Kumar Jha, issued a detailed response to former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s recent allegations. Baghel, in a press conference two days ago, had described Jha as someone “living off government salaries” and made other remarks.

In his letter, Jha addressed the comments with a mix of sarcasm and pointed rebuttals.

Key Highlights from Jha’s Letter:

Response to Allegations Jha extended a belated “Janadesh Diwas” greeting to Baghel, expressing a mix of concern and sarcasm over his recent remarks. He acknowledged Baghel’s dissatisfaction but emphasized that being a salaried individual is not something to be demeaned. “Calling someone ‘living off salaries’ is an insult to millions of government and private sector employees across the country, who contribute significantly to the nation’s development through their work and taxes,” Jha remarked.

Sarcasm on Political Downfall Referring to Baghel’s political tenure and the aftermath of his party’s defeat, Jha noted: “It is unfortunate that someone who once viewed himself as an ‘emperor’ has now been reduced to targeting salaried individuals like me in press conferences.”

Highlighting Double Standards Jha pointed out that during Baghel’s tenure as CM, his administration also appointed multiple advisors, some of whom engaged in political commentary and controversies. “Your advisors freely indulged in political rhetoric. Why is it objectionable now when an advisor from the current government expresses their opinion?”

Defending His Role and Freedom of Expression Jha emphasized his long-standing career in journalism and political analysis, highlighting his right to free speech as guaranteed under Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution. “I write not because I am an advisor, but because I always have. My freedom to express my views cannot be curtailed by any political responsibility,” he asserted.

Nationalist Ideals Jha concluded by reaffirming his dedication to nationalist ideals, vowing to continue advocating for them both professionally and personally. “This tricolor and saffron flag define my identity, and one day, I will rest in the lap of Chhattisgarh Mahatari, proud of my contributions.”

The exchange stems from a social media post by Jha, which Baghel had criticized. The former CM accused the advisor of crossing professional boundaries and acting more like a political spokesperson. In response, Jha defended his right to express views as an individual, irrespective of his official position.

Implications

This war of words between Jha and Baghel highlights the continuing political tensions in Chhattisgarh. It underscores the scrutiny faced by government advisors and the thin line between professional responsibilities and personal expression in politically charged environments.
