Children fishing in local drain, come across live ammo, police steps in
A significant cache of bullets has been discovered in Raipur, causing a stir within the police department. Seventy rifle cartridges were found in a drain in front of the VW Canyon Hotel. These cartridges are reportedly used in rifles like INSAS and LMG. The Telibandha police have seized the ammunition and are investigating the matter.
According to the police, the cartridges were discovered by children fishing in the Chhokra Nala near the Vw Canyon Hotel in village Fundhar. They found a pouch containing the cartridges and some loose rounds. Upon receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene and recovered a total of 84 cartridges and two empty casings from the drain. The seized cartridges include .303 bore, MMK, and INSAS rounds.
The investigation is ongoing to determine whether these cartridges are live ammunition or used for practice. It is noted that such ammunition is typically used by security forces, including in rifles such as SLR, AK-47, INSAS, and .303 caliber guns.
