Chief Minister inspecting floodwaters from railway bridge, suddenly train came along, watch narrow escape
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu narrowly escaped a train accident on Thursday while inspecting floodwaters near a railway track in Madhuranagar, Vijayawada. As Naidu and his team were assessing the situation near a waterlogged stream, a train approached from the opposite direction. Thanks to timely alerts from officials and Telugu Desam Party members, the train slowed down, allowing Naidu and his team to move out of the way safely. The Chief Minister, who was under Z+ security due to past threats, was unharmed.
Naidu's inspection was part of his extensive efforts to manage the flood crisis in the state, which included traversing floodwaters and using boats and bulldozers to survey affected areas. On Thursday, he was evaluating the flood situation from a railway bridge over a swollen water body in Vijayawada. Despite the close proximity of a passing train, Naidu remained calm and focused on his task.
The incident, captured in footage shared by PTI on social media, shows Naidu standing near the bridge's railing as the train whizzed by. Passengers on the train cheered his determination and fieldwork. Naidu has been actively involved in relief operations, coordinating with rescuers and navigating through difficult conditions over the past five days to aid those affected by the severe flooding.
