Film

Chhattisgarh is set to receive a major boost in its tourism and entertainment sectors with the approval of ₹147.66 crore for two key tourism projects by the central government. One of the most exciting developments is the construction of a Film City in Raipur, located at Mana Tuta, with a budget of ₹95.79 crore. The state will also see the creation of a Tribal and Cultural Convention Center at a cost of ₹51.87 crore. These projects are expected to not only promote tourism but also enhance Chhattisgarh's identity on the national and international stages.

Film City to Boost Film Production in Chhattisgarh

The new Film City, named Chitrotpala Film City, will be constructed in Raipur at an investment of ₹95.79 crore. It is designed to become a significant hub for film production, attracting filmmakers and producers from across India. This development will provide much-needed infrastructure for film shoots, encouraging national and regional film productions in Chhattisgarh. The film city is expected to boost local employment opportunities and contribute to the state's growing reputation as a key destination for film tourism.

Tribal and Cultural Center to Showcase Chhattisgarh’s Heritage

Alongside the Film City, the government will invest ₹51.87 crore to establish a Tribal and Cultural Convention Center in Raipur. This center will serve as a platform to showcase the rich tribal culture and traditions of the state. It will host various events and performances, including folk art, music, and dance, offering both tourists and locals an immersive experience of Chhattisgarh's cultural heritage.

A Major Win for Chhattisgarh's Tourism Industry

These projects are part of the central government's Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme for 2024-25. The funding was approved following the efforts of Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister, Vishnu Dev Sai, who, on October 15, 2024, met with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi to discuss the state's tourism plans.

CM Sai announced the approval of ₹147.66 crore during the Chhattisgarhi Rajbhasha Diwas event on November 28, 2024. The Film City and Cultural Center projects are expected to enhance the state's tourism infrastructure, creating jobs, stimulating local businesses, and putting Chhattisgarh on the global tourism map. Additionally, the Film City will also provide a platform for the promotion of Chhattisgarhi films and theater, giving local filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience.

Support from Film Industry

Film producers and directors have welcomed the news, expressing optimism about the new opportunities for film production and the promotion of regional cinema in the state. This initiative is expected to bring significant attention to Chhattisgarh’s film industry, which will now have access to world-class facilities for shooting and film-related events.

The approval of these tourism and cultural projects by the central government marks a new chapter in Chhattisgarh's development, with a focus on boosting tourism, preserving cultural heritage, and supporting the entertainment industry.
