Bijapur, Chhattisgarh: In a chilling act of violence, Maoists brutally killed two former sarpanches in separate incidents on the same day in Bijapur district. The victims, identified as Suklu Farsa and Sukhram Avlam, were abducted from different locations and later murdered.

Details of the Abductions

Suklu Farsa, former sarpanch of Suklu village in Bhairamgarh police station area, was kidnapped by Maoists on November 2 while traveling through Biriyabhumi village.

Sukhram Avlam, former sarpanch of Kader village in Naimed police station area, was abducted from Murga Bazaar, a local marketplace.

Both individuals were found dead, with Maoists leaving a chilling message alongside Suklu Farsa’s body.

Maoists Issue Warning in Press Note

Maoists released a press note claiming responsibility for Suklu Farsa’s murder. They accused him of being associated with the BJP and stated that he had been warned thrice to sever ties with the party. Allegedly, Farsa ignored their warnings, leading to his execution. "We had warned him thrice to stay away from BJP activities, but he did not heed the warnings," read the Maoists' note. No such note was found with Sukhram Avlam's body, and the motive for his murder remains unclear.

Rising Maoist Threat in Bijapur

The incident has heightened concerns about the Maoist insurgency in Bijapur, a district known for ongoing clashes between security forces and rebels. Targeted killings of individuals with perceived political or administrative affiliations underline the deepening conflict.

Local authorities and police have condemned the murders, promising heightened vigilance and intensified operations against Maoist activities. Investigations are ongoing to gather more details about the incidents and prevent future attacks.

These brutal killings reflect the persistent challenges of maintaining security and order in Naxal-affected regions, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and development efforts in the area.
