Chhattisgarh gears up for paddy procurement, post Diwali
In Chhattisgarh, preparations for paddy procurement have begun following the Diwali festival. During a cabinet subcommittee meeting held on September 30, a proposal was presented to start paddy procurement from November 15. This year, the target for paddy procurement has been set at 1.6 million metric tons. In light of this, the administration across all districts has initiated preparations for the procurement process.
Preparations for Paddy Procurement: In Dhamtari district, paddy and maize will be procured at support prices for the Kharif marketing year 2024-25. Collector Namrata Gandhi has issued necessary instructions to all sub-divisional revenue officers to ensure a smooth procurement process. Before the start of the Kharif marketing year 2024-25, directives have been given to match the village-wise B-1 readings with registered farmers' entries.
Administration on Alert for Procurement:In Dhamtari, the patwari will announce the B-1 readings in the villages through the village headman. Identification of deceased account holders will be conducted, and information regarding the transfer process will be provided. By October 18, the village-wise B-1 readings must be prepared and submitted to the respective tehsildar. The entries of registered farmers will be matched with the farmer’s book, and pending uncontested cases in revenue courts will need to be resolved. After the Kharif girdawari, preliminary publication of village-wise and farmer-wise information will be done, and claims and objections will be sought. Claims and objections must be resolved by October 15, and the details should be entered into the Khasra Panchshala and software by October 20.
Furthermore, checks will be conducted to ensure that no crops are entered on the land under cultivation. Farmers are required to provide information about other crops sown, planted trees, and land used for any other purpose, in addition to paddy on their account land. Additionally, no entries of paddy crops should be made on land designated for acquisition under any circumstances.
